Individual counseling is focused on the individual's immediate or near future concerns. Individual counseling may encompass career counseling and planning, grief after a loved one dies, or dealing with problems at a job before they become big. Individual counseling sessions offer many people the support and guidance they need in order to work toward cultivating a healthy, happy life. While working one-on-one, you can make changes in your thoughts and behaviors, get through a big life change without the stress, or do work to make everyday a little easier.

Open Relationships

Couples counseling is beneficial for a wide variety of relationships including those who are married, preparing for marriage, divorced, co-parenting, polyamorous, in long-term relationships, in partnerships, in open relationships, and in new relationships. We work with couples to help both partners identify unhelpful patterns of behavior and find new ways of connecting and communicating on a more emotional and empathetic level. Romantic relationships can be a great source of strength, but they can also cause pain and heartache. Whether you currently feel committed to building a better relationship, ambivalent about the future of your relationship, or fear that your relationship is on the brink of collapse—we can help.

What can Couples/Marriage Counseling help with?

  • Everyday conversations that seem to turn instantly into bitter arguments, criticism, defensiveness, or personal attacks

  • Feeling like you go in circles or that you never get anywhere on the important issues that divide you

  • Avoiding each other or certain conversations because you know nothing good ever comes from those conversations

  • No longer feeling connected and wonder what happened to the intimacy you used to share

  • Feeling stuck and unsure if there is a way forward

  • Feeling afraid that you are beginning to live like roommates or have been living like roommates for years

  • One or both of you taking things personally more often than not

  • The revelation of an affair that has turned you and your relationship upside down

  • Sex that has become infrequent, stale, and something you now fight about

  • Having lost the passion and excitement that you used to share

  • Being rarely in the mood, rarely thinking about sex, or having lost interest in sex

  • Struggling with behaviors that feel beyond your control (e.g. porn viewing)

  • Having trouble with lubrication, having orgasms infrequently or with little intensity, rapid ejaculation, delayed orgasm, difficulty obtaining or maintaining an erection, or pain during sex

Family Counseling

For those looking to strengthen the family system and rebuild relationships, family therapy explores individual behaviors, emotions and responses that contribute to the entire unit.

Family dynamics are complicated. They are constantly changing and evolve over time as the family's circumstances naturally change. Families may face a challenge due to a new addition to the family, the loss of a loved one, a relocation, illness or something else entirely. Regardless of your family structure, we are here to help you understand one another better and to learn to move forward with love and respect for each other. To do so takes time, effort and an openness to both resetting the way you see yourself and your loved ones, as well as ceasing unhelpful patterns of behavior.

What can Family Counseling help with?

  • Loss of a family member

  • Addition of a family member

  • Adjusting to divorce

  • Adjusting to remarriage

  • Blending families or family transitions

  • Behavioral or emotional issues in children

  • Trouble establishing boundaries between children and adults

  • Conflicting parenting styles

  • Frequent arguing and tension between family members

  • Feeling distant from family members

  • Families that lack communication and conversation

  • Children that are disengaged from the family

  • Developing healthy and effective parenting behaviors

  • Establishing family rules, roles, and expectations

  • Working in a family-owned business

  • Struggles with financial security in the family

  • Struggles with addiction in the family
